We have, here's the receipt.ComedyDidn't get our complimentary drinks (as Acor Silver members) , tho after debating this with two staff lady gave two drinks as gesture of goodwill.Not enough mugs, milk or blankets in room. All first world stuff but just annoying.On a positive food and waiting staff were good. Nice looking hotel and grounds.
Went for afternoon tea for my birthday yesterday. Also, wanted to have a look at the hotel as a possible Wedding venue. Hotel looks lovely in the photos on their website but in reality it's a little tired in places. Grounds to the front of the hotel are featureless. The walled garden is just a large patch of grass behind a wall. There's no plants or shrub beds or any ornaments to make it more attractive.The afternoon tea was not as advertised on the website. We were served a pot of tea which was nice and flavoursome. The finger sandwiches were ham & lettuce and salmon & cream cheese both served on white bread only. We also had half a vanilla slice each, two mini sized mince pies, (probably left over from Christmas) and a tiny square of chocolate coffee slice about an inch square. We also had a plain scone each with jam and cream. The scones were lovely warm and tasted freshly cooked. The scones saved the afternoon tea! We asked for another scone each and the waiter was very obliging. After our food we had a look round the function rooms which were fairly ordinary. The main larger room was a bland and just a large rectangular room. No features, just a bar area in one corner. The restaurant and lounge area were a little better but the ceiling lights are too modern and look out of place in an old manor. Some lovely chandeliers would be a big improvement. The toilets were shabby in places and need improving. The men's toilets were out of order and my other half was directed to the disabled toilet. All in all, I would not recommend the hotel for a Wedding venue and the afternoon tea was a little disappointing. If certain foods are seasonal and not available or if food listed is not served, this should be mentioned on the website.
Efficient service at event in function room. Good was good and hot not special though.
Good service, clean but tired hotel. It could have been a more luxurious Christmas, but not at that price! A three night stay, full board for half the "going rate" for two night breaks.Remembering that, we had a bargain! The food was as expected. But better. The rooms as expected, but better. The service was as expected but better. The staff were (mostly) charming and always good. Slight case of "computer says no!" when we offered to swap our ground floor room for an upstairs one for a guest with breathing difficulty: it was denied that another room was available (it later became clear that a room had been free) and then that we could not possibly swap! Of course we did and (of course!) the "computer" somehow coped with a few key-strokes! We swapped rooms to an identical upstairs room. The hotel coped!Would we return?For a sleepover near Bristol - probably (the other two Mercure hotels, actually in the city are far better establishments).For a seasonal treat? Sure! After the Grange has had a slightly overdue but extensive upgrade!
We have really enjoyed our stay here. Booked for 5 nights. Close to both Bristol and Bath with good road links and convenient for other nearby towns and villages. Very quiet here - even when they hosted a wedding we weren't disturbed. Hotel is very clean and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast is excellent with a really good choice - and plentiful! Parking is FREE and there's plenty of it. Some hotels charge for parking - this hotel doesn't. Always a big plus! We'd definitely come here again if travelling this way.
